Robaxacet (methocarbamol and acetaminophen)

Indications

Robaxacet is used to relieve muscle pain and spasms associated with strains, sprains, and other musculoskeletal conditions. It combines a muscle relaxant (methocarbamol) with a pain reliever (acetaminophen) to provide effective relief.

Dosage and Administration

  • Take Robaxacet exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
  • Swallow the tablets whole with a full glass of water.
  • Take the medication with or without food.
  • Follow your doctor’s instructions on the dosage and schedule, typically taken every 6 hours as needed.
  • Do not crush, chew, or break the tablets.
  • Avoid skipping doses.
  • Do not take more than the prescribed dose to prevent potential side effects or overdose.
  • Do not operate heavy machinery or drive until you know how Robaxacet affects you, as it can cause drowsiness and dizziness.

Mechanism of Action

Robaxacet combines Methocarbamol, a muscle relaxant, and Acetaminophen, a pain reliever. Methocarbamol works by depressing the central nervous system, leading to muscle relaxation and relief from spasms. Acetaminophen works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, which helps to reduce pain and fever.

Contraindications

  • Do not use if you are allergic to Methocarbamol, Acetaminophen, or any ingredients in Robaxacet.
  • Avoid use if you have severe liver disease or kidney disease.
  • Not recommended for individuals with a history of myasthenia gravis.
  • Consult your doctor if you have a history of liver disease, kidney disease, or alcohol use disorder before taking this medication.
  • Inform your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
