Relpax (eletriptan)
Indications
Relpax is used to treat acute migraine attacks with or without aura in adults. It helps to relieve headache, pain, and other migraine symptoms, such as nausea, sensitivity to light and sound.
Dosage and Administration
- Take Relpax exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.
- Take the medication as soon as you notice migraine symptoms, but it can also be taken at any time during a migraine attack.
- If your symptoms improve but then return, you may take a second dose, provided it is at least 2 hours after the first dose.
- Follow your doctor’s instructions regarding the maximum number of doses to take within a 24-hour period (typically no more than 2 doses).
- Do not crush or chew the tablets.
- Avoid taking more than the prescribed dose to prevent potential side effects.
- Do not take a second dose if the first dose does not provide any relief; consult your doctor instead.
- Avoid using Relpax within 24 hours of taking another migraine medication that contains ergotamine or another triptan.
- Do not use Relpax to prevent migraines or for other types of headaches.
Mechanism of Action
Relpax (Eletriptan) is a selective serotonin receptor agonist (triptan) that works by narrowing the blood vessels around the brain. It also reduces substances in the body that can trigger headache pain, nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, and other migraine symptoms. By binding to serotonin receptors, Relpax helps to alleviate migraine attacks.

- Do not use it if you are allergic to Eletriptan or any of the ingredients in Relpax.
- Avoid if you have a history of heart disease, heart attack, or stroke.
- Not recommended for individuals with uncontrolled high blood pressure.
- Consult your doctor if you have a history of epilepsy or seizures before taking this medication.
