Penlac Nail Lacquer (ciclopirox)
Indications
- Penlac Nail Lacquer is prescribed for the treatment of fungal infections of the toenails and fingernails (onychomycosis).
- It helps inhibit the growth of fungi responsible for the infection, restoring the health and appearance of the affected nails.
Dosage and Administration
- Apply Penlac Nail Lacquer solution once daily, preferably at bedtime.
- Ensure the affected nail(s) are clean and dry before application.
- Use the applicator brush provided to cover the entire nail surface and the surrounding skin with a thin layer of lacquer.
- Allow the lacquer to dry completely before covering with socks or shoes.
- Do not apply Penlac Nail Lacquer to broken or irritated skin around the nail.
- Avoid getting Penlac Nail Lacquer in your eyes, mouth, or nose. If accidental exposure occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
- Do not use nail polish or other nail products while using the solution, as they may interfere with treatment.
Mechanism of Action
Penlac Nail Lacquer contains Ciclopirox, which works by disrupting the fungal cell membrane, leading to the death of the fungal cells. This helps eliminate the fungal infection in the nails.
