Astelin Nasal Spray (azelastine hydrochloride)

Indications

  • Astelin Nasal Spray is used to relieve symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and perennial allergic rhinitis (year-round allergies).
  • It helps alleviate symptoms such as nasal congestion, sneezing, runny nose, and itching.

Dosage and Administration

  • Use Astelin Nasal Spray exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually 1-2 sprays into each nostril twice daily.
  • Shake the bottle gently before each use.
  • Blow your nose gently before using the nasal spray.
  • Keep your head upright and insert the tip of the spray bottle into one nostril while closing the other nostril with your finger. Press down on the pump to release the spray.
  • Breathe in gently through your nose while spraying.
  • Repeat the process for the other nostril.
  • Wipe the tip of the spray bottle with a clean tissue after each use and replace the cap securely.
  • Do not exceed the recommended dosage without consulting your doctor.
  • Avoid spraying nasal spray into your eyes or mouth.
  • Do not share your nasal spray with others, even if they have similar symptoms.
  • Avoid using Astelin Nasal Spray if you are allergic to azelastine or any of its ingredients.

Mechanism of Action

  • Astelin Nasal Spray contains Azelastine Hydrochloride, an antihistamine. It works by blocking the effects of histamine, a substance in the body that triggers allergic reactions. By inhibiting histamine activity in the nasal passages, Astelin Nasal Spray helps relieve allergy symptoms such as nasal congestion, sneezing, itching, and runny nose.

  • Do not use Astelin Nasal Spray if you are allergic to azelastine or any of its ingredients.
  • Avoid using Astelin Nasal Spray in children under the age of 5 years without consulting a pediatrician.
