Linzess (linaclotide)
Indications
Linzess is indicated for the treatment of:
- Irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) in adults.
- Chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC) in adults.
- Functional constipation (FC) in pediatric patients aged 6 to 17 years.
Dosage and Administration
- Read the Medication Guide provided by your pharmacist and consult your healthcare provider if you have any questions.
- Take Linzess by mouth once daily on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before a meal.
- Swallow the capsules whole. If swallowing the capsule is difficult, alternative administration methods may be used. Follow your healthcare provider’s instructions carefully.
- Use Linzess regularly at the same time each day for optimal benefit. Keep your healthcare provider informed about your condition and response to the medication.
- Do not break the capsules.

Mechanism of Action
Linzess works by activating guanylate cyclase-C receptors in the intestines, which increases intestinal fluid secretion and stimulates bowel movements.
Contraindications
