Myrbetriq (mirabegron)
Indications
Myrbetriq is indicated for:
- Treatment of overactive bladder (OAB) in adults with symptoms of urge urinary incontinence, urgency, and urinary frequency.
- Treatment of neurogenic detrusor overactivity (NDO) in pediatric patients aged 3 years and older and weighing 35 kg or more.
Dosage and Administration
- Take Myrbetriq by mouth as prescribed by your healthcare provider, typically once daily.
- Take Myrbetriq with or without food. Children should take Myrbetriq with food.
- Swallow the tablet whole.
- Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. Take it at the same time each day.
- Do not skip doses or stop taking Myrbetriq without consulting your healthcare provider.
Mechanism of Action
Myrbetriq works by activating beta-3 adrenergic receptors in the bladder. This action relaxes the detrusor muscle during the storage phase of the urinary bladder fill-void cycle, increasing bladder capacity and reducing symptoms of overactive bladder such as urgency, urinary frequency, and urge urinary incontinence.
