Noroxin Medication Guide
Take Noroxin exactly as your doctor tells you. It’s usually taken every 12 hours with a full glass of water. Drink plenty of fluids while taking it. Take Noroxin at least one hour before a meal or two hours after a meal, and avoid milk or dairy products around the time you take it. Don’t skip doses or stop taking Noroxin early, even if you feel better. Only stop if you have tendon problems, a severe allergic reaction, or your doctor tells you to. This helps kill all the bacteria and prevent them from resisting the medicine. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but don’t take two doses at once. Don’t take more than two doses in a day. If you take too much, call your doctor or get help right away.
Don’t take Noroxin if you’ve had a severe allergic reaction to an antibiotic called a fluoroquinolone, or if you’re allergic to any of the ingredients in Noroxin. If you’re not sure, ask your doctor. Check the end of this Medication Guide for the list of ingredients. Also, don’t take Noroxin if you’ve had tendon problems while taking Noroxin or another fluoroquinolone antibiotic.
Allergic reactions can happen to people who take fluoroquinolones, like Noroxin, even after just one dose. Stop taking Noroxin and get emergency help right away if you get hives, trouble breathing or swallowing, swollen lips, tongue, or face, a tight throat, a hoarse voice, a fast heartbeat, fainting, or yellowing of your skin or eyes. If you notice your skin or the white part of your eyes turning yellow, or if you have dark urine, stop taking Noroxin and tell your doctor right away. These could be signs of a serious liver problem.
